Be a Buddy to a 1 Voice Child (or two) at the Children's Parade and earn 6 hours of volunteer time!  

Every year, YMKN hosts around 15 children  from 1Voice on our float for the Children's Parade.  Only the children attend (not the parents) so we need volunteers to buddy up with a child for the day.  Your job as their buddy is pretty simple...

• Staging - Meet them in staging around 2pm and keep them entertained until the parade starts.   This year, all 1Voice Children will receive a special pirate swag bag with Krewe Beads and other fun surprises. This will be provided. Other activities will be provided and coordinated. 
• • If you want and have registered to do so, ride with the kids on the bus to staging (bus will leave the aquarium between 1:15 and 1:30--absolutely no later than 1:30).  If you've registered to ride the bus, please plan to arrive there by 1 p.m. to ensure our departure goes smoothly. 
  • 1Voice will provide lunch for all children and volunteers to be consumed in the staging area.
• During the Parade - Once the parade starts, you just need to hang with them on the float while they go crazy throwing beads and having the time of their lives! Bags of beads for the 1Voice Children are provided! 
• After the Parade - Make sure they get to the 1Voice/YMKN bus.  Volunteers are invited to ride the bus back to the Aquarium and/or join the 1Voice families for dinner in a reserved area at Splitsville at 7:30pm.
